How Cupping Hijama Therapy Works

Our Approach to Healing, Hijama (wet cupping) is an ancient therapy where suction is applied to specific points on the body, followed by superficial skin incisions to draw out a small amount of blood. The process removes stagnant blood, boosts localized circulation, and is believed to promote natural healing.

1- Initial Suction The practitioner disinfects the treatment area and places a specialized cup (glass or plastic) on the skin. A vacuum is created using heat or a manual suction pump, which pulls the skin and superficial tissue upward into the cup. This is left on for 10 to 15 minutes to draw stagnant blood and fluid to the surface.

2- Scarification The cup is briefly removed, and the practitioner uses a sterile, surgical blade to make very light, tiny, and superficial scratches on the surface of the raised skin.

3- Second Suction The cup is placed back over the same area, and suction is applied again.

4- Fluid Extraction The negative pressure gently draws out a controlled, minimal volume of capillary blood and interstitial fluids.

5- Cleaning The cups are removed, and the skin is thoroughly cleaned and bandaged.
